Hello everyone and welcome or welcome back to my blog, today I am going to be talking about my May TBR (to be read). I have five books on my list this month and I’m hoping to get to all of them this month. Now without further ado let’s get started.
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
First, I want to read The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. This book follows our main character Ruby whom when she wakes up on her tenth birthday something has changed about her. Her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. She has gained abilities she cannot control. When she turns sixteen her abilities that she has kept secret even from her camp come to light she barely escapes. Ruby joins a group of kids that have escaped from their own camp. They go on a journey to find the one safe haven left. Fighting the government on the way, once they get close to their dream Ruby is faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up a life worth living.
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Next, I want to read Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. This book follows our main character Alina Starkov who is a soldier who has to make her first trek across the Shadow Fold. Her regiment is attacked Alina unleashes magic that has laid dormant and didn’t know she possessed. She then goes lives in a lavish world of royalty and trains with the Grisha, her country’s magical military elite. While there she falls under the spell of her leader, the Darkling. He thinks Alina can summon a force strong enough to destroy the Shadow Fold. As the threat to the kingdom mounts and Alina unlocks secrets of her past, she will make a discovery that could threaten all she loves and the future of the nation.
The Diviners by Libba Bray
Moreover, I want to read The Diviners by Libba Bray. This book follows our main character Evangeline O’Neill who has been exiled from her hometown and sent to the bustling streets of New York City. She is really excited about it, the only catch is she has to live with her uncle Will. He has an unhealthy obsession with the occult. Evie is worried he’ll discover her darkest secret, a supernatural power that has brought her trouble. When the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol Evie realizes her gift could help catch the killer. When Evie jumps into investigating the murder other stories unfurl in the city that never sleeps. Unknown to everyone something dark and evil has awakened.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
Additionally, I want to read Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. This follows our main character Percy Jackson who is a good kid but has trouble focusing on his schoolwork and controlling his temper. While at his boarding his pre-algebra teacher tries to kill him while they are on a school field trip. Soon Percy finds out he is a half-blood and ends up at a camp.
Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning
Finally, I want to read Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning. This follows our main character MacKayla Lane who has a good life. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. Until something extraordinary happens. Her sister gets murdered and only leaves a single clue to her death, a cryptic message on Mac’s cellphone. She then journeys to Ireland to search for answers. Mac’s quest to find the killer draws her into a shadowy realm. Where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same seductive mask.
She’s soon faced with an even greater challenge, staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed. A gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man and into the dangerous realm of the Fae. As she delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death. Her every move is shadowed by the dark and mysterious Jericho. As the boundary between worlds begins to crumble Mac’s true mission becomes clear. She has to find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book. Whoever gets it first holds nothing less than complete control of both worlds in their hands.
Alright everyone that is all the books in my May TBR. I hope you all enjoyed reading about what I wanted to read this month. If you liked this post make sure to like, comment, and subscribe by email so you don’t miss a single post like this one. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
